Why thanks for asking! My primary medium is pen-and-ink. Typically I start by sketching a new illustration in pencil, then outlining with Micron pens, erasing pencil lines, and finally applying and blending alcohol ink. I use a mix of Copic and Ohuhu alcohol ink markers. My final illustrations look similar to watercolor but are more detailed and controlled.

Commissions are booked on a first-come, first-served basis and most of the year commissions are being booked about 2 months out. Fall is my busiest season for commissions ahead of the holidays and I may book up 3-4 months out during that time.

See the description of each commission listing for my current timeline. Most commissions are guaranteed by the end of the month they are booked for. If you have a commission request that is different from those described in the Commissions section, or is more detailed than the commissions shown, you can email me at hi@dprincedesigns.com to request a quote and timeline. 

I require at least one reference photo for most commissions, though you are welcome to send as many as you'd like. See guidelines for the reference photo(s) in the listing for each commission.

Almost all commissions include one opportunity to provide feedback: when the illustration is sketched in pencil before I proceed with ink. You will have about 24-48 hours to provide feedback by email at this point in the process. If I don't receive a response from you within that window, I will move forward to keep your commission on track and so I can start my next commission on time.

Yes, and we're so proud of this! All paper products are printed on recycled cardstock. Our jewelry is made from upcycled plastic (sourced from frame packaging and the molded white plastic packaging that comes with our materials). In addition, we use repurposed, paper, and biodegradable shipping materials for every order!

Absolutely. We offer hand-painted gift wrapping and gift cards, and are always happy to include a gift note with your order. Just email hi@dprincedesigns.com with your gift message.

Yes! Kristin teaches a variety of art and illustration workshops in the Washington, DC area including alcohol ink illustration workshops, notebook design & bind, pop art painting, and suncatcher making. Current workshop offerings are listed on the Private & Corporate Workshops page, where you can also request a private workshop. You can also see upcoming public workshops here.

Currently we ship anywhere within the United States from our website. A selection of our products can be found on Etsy, where you can ship internationally! If you want to ship something internationally that is not listed on Etsy, get in touch with us by emailing hi@dprincedesigns.com and we'll do our best to accomodate your request!

Shipping is $7 on all orders less than $50. Orders over $50 ship free! With the exception of commissions, your order will ship from Washington, DC in about 24-48 hours. Most orders arrive 2-5 business days after that depending on where in the United States you are shipping to. You will receive a tracking number via email once your order ships.

Yes! You can select "Local Pick Up" as your shipping option during check out. This will make shipping free, and we will reach to coordinate pick up of your order at Eastern Market in Washington, DC on an upcoming Saturday or Sunday.

With the exception of commissions, original artwork, and custom items of any kind, you can return your order to us within 30 days of the shipping date. You will be responsible for return shipping costs. Once we have received and reviewed your return, a full refund will be issued as long as all items are returned in good condition.
